architecture

Schwarzenegg Castle is located in a park at the foot of the Wildoner Schlossberg. Since it was never used for military purposes in its history, it has no fortifications . At the entrance to the castle there is a statue of Johannes Nepomuk dated 1739 . The palace consists of a two-storey main building in the Renaissance style and ancillary buildings around an arcade courtyard . The simple style of the facade is characterized by the Renaissance window shutters and the two simple portals . The three-storey column arcade on the courtyard side of the south wing is striking . Special outbuildings are the palace chapel (dedicated to the Visitation of Mary) and a modern riding hall.
