Wallisfurth Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Wolanach ) was a castle in Wolany ( Wallisfurth ) in the urban and rural municipality of Szczytna ( Rückers ) in the powiat Kłodzki ( district of Glatz ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. Historically, Wallisfurth belonged to the County of Glatz .

history

From 1709 the imperial count Georg Olivier von Wallis acquired three parts of the estate of the previous manor "Wernersdorf" and had a baroque palace built here. After completion, the village was with the permission of Emperor Charles VI. renamed "Wallisfurth". Georg Olivier's son Georg Stephan von Wallis (1744–1832) had to sell the property to Count Friedrich Wilhelm von Schlabrendorf on Hassitz und Stolz in 1783 because of excessive indebtedness . A year later, the palace and rule came to Wilhelm Alexander von Schoenaich-Carolath , who was followed in 1798 by the royal Prussian general Ludwig Duke of Württemberg and this Eleonorde von Königsdorff .

In 1827 a fire destroyed the castle. Using a preserved wing and the old main building, Friedrich Freiherr von Falkenhausen had a new palace built in the style of Italian late classicism according to plans by Hermann Friedrich Waesemann in 1855 . During a further renovation in 1885, the castle was given a neo-Gothic pinnacle wreath .

Around 1903 Prince Wilhelm Malte zu Putbus acquired the castle and estate, then in 1909 Friedrich von Martin at Rothenburg Castle near Görlitz , followed by Friedrich von Martin in 1909 and Hans Sternberg in 1911. Because of their Jewish origins, the Sternberg family had to sell the profitable property to the German settlement company in accordance with this ordinance in 1938 . During the Second World War, deported Luxembourgers were interned in the castle .

After the Second World War in 1945, Wallisfurth, renamed "Wolany", fell to Poland along with Silesia . The castle, which had been well preserved until then, fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1978. A large apartment building was built in its place. In addition to the overgrown castle park, the baroque gentleman's houses and two obelisks at the castle entrance have been preserved.
