The Schlossbrauerei Maxlrain is a brewery in Maxlrain , a district of the municipality of Tuntenhausen in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim .

history

In 1746, Countess Josepha von Lamberg obtained from Elector Maximilian III. Joseph officially given permission to brew brown beer in Maxlrain by proving that the brewing right in Maxlrain had been exercised for over 100 years. The brewery was first mentioned in a document in 1636. Maximilian von Arco-Zinneberg acquired the castle and brewery in 1870 for his son Ludwig von Arco-Zinneberg , who built the east wing with his wife, Countess Schaesberg . With his second wife, Princess Lobkowitz , he added the west wing. Brewing took place in Maxlrain Castle until 1900 , then in the newly built brewery. Erich Prinz von Lobkowicz has been running the brewery since 1986.

Range & awards

The brewery brews 16 different beers, including wheat beer , pilsner and light beer .

The brewery was awarded the Federal Honorary Prize nine times .

It was named Germany's Brewery of the Year in 2012 by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture .

The brewery is a member of the Brauring , a cooperation between private breweries from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
