Schmehl Peak

The Schmehl peak is 750  m high and rocky mountain at the Oates Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Wilson Hills it rises above the confluence of the Walsh Glacier and the Tomilin Glacier .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Lieutenant Peter W. Schmehl of the Reserve Forces of the US Navy, navigator one LC-130F Hercules in Operation Deep Freeze in 1968.
