Schmeling Lehmann

Schmeling Lehmann (born December 4, 1936 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German Sinti musician. He is a guitarist of gypsy jazz and also plays the harmonica and organ.

Lehmann, whose younger brother is bassist Jani Lehmann , initially played in various ensembles with his cousin Schnuckenack Reinhardt and Bobby Falta . Since 1973 he has been part of Schnuckenack Reinhardt's “new quintet”, with whom he recorded three albums, and then to the Schnuckenack Reinhardt gypsy orchestra , with which the album Pußtaklangen (1975) was created. In 1977 he founded the Hot Club da Sinti with Wedeli Köhler , with which he was on the road until 1985 and released an album of the same name in 1981.
