Jani Lehmann

Jani Lehmann (* 22. June 1948 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German double bass player of gypsy jazz .

Lehmann, whose older brother is the guitarist Schmeling Lehmann , initially played in various ensembles with his cousin Schnuckenack Reinhardt and Bobby Falta . Since 1973 he has been part of Schnuckenack Reinhardt's “new quintet”, with whom he recorded three albums, and then to the Schnuckenack Reinhardt gypsy orchestra , with which the album Pusstaklangen ( Intercord 1975) was created. In 1977 he founded the Hot Club da Sinti with his brother and Wedeli Köhler , with which he was on the road until 1985 and can also be heard on the album of the same name (1981). In recent years, he joined both the ensemble of Romeo Francis and the Hot Club de Zigan of Schmitto Kling on. He is also involved in Kling's album Sunrise Sunset (2009).
