Lap dog

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The collective term lap dog is used for small and petite miniature dogs of various breeds such as Chihuahua , Maltese , Yorkshire Terrier , Pekingese , Miniature Pinscher or Miniature Poodle .

meaning

Lap dogs were mostly kept by women as luxury dogs or playmates. Their actual task was to pull off the fleas due to the higher body temperature .

In portraits of the Renaissance , women were painted with their little dogs, who stood for loyalty, elegance and beauty. Especially in the 18th century, lap dogs were trained for sexual purposes ( cunnilingus , see zoophilia ).

Well-known lap dogs of recent times are the Yorkshire terrier bitch Daisy by Rudolph Moshammer , the Chihuahua Tinkerbell by Paris Hilton and the white poodles of the Jacob Sisters .
