Helical gear
The helical gear is a rotatable permanent screw - nut - connection . One of the two parts is rotatably but axially fixed, the other linearly displaceable in the frame stored . Both are connected via a movement thread .
The screw ( threaded spindle ) is either enclosed by a component with an internal thread or a sector of the screw thread drives a rack or a gearwheel ( worm wheel ) in the manner of a worm gear . The threaded spindle of a worm gear is also known as a worm shaft.
Application example
Helical gears are widely used machine elements when it comes to applying large forces or executing precise movements. Well-known examples that are familiar from everyday life:
- vice
- Car jack
- Screw press (wine press)
- Valve spindle in the tap
- Snail gear on the camera lens
