The screwed heart flagellate ( Phacus pyrum ) is a protist species from the genus Phacus . It occurs in stagnant, clean and well-exposed waters.
features
Phacus pyrum is 30 to 50 micrometers long. The cells are obovate. They run out to the rear in a straight, long stinger. 8 spiral strips converge at the mouth of the scourge sac. The scourge is as long as the body. The membrane is not completely filled by the protoplast . The chloroplasts are disc-shaped.
