New school

The school building at Pesterwitzer Straße 23 (called Neue Schule ) is a listed former school building in the Freital district of Wurgwitz in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district , which is now used for residential purposes.

history

The school building was built in 1908 not far from the first Wurgwitz school on Pesterwitzer Straße. The first school had become too small due to the growing population. The new building initially only had three classrooms as well as rooms for the headmaster and the caretaker. After the Second World War , the community rebuilt the house and two more classrooms were created. In 1925, the new Wurgwitzer Rathaus was built next to the school building , and for a long time food was cooked in the cellar for the students of the New School.

In 1982, the students moved to the new school on the Quäne, which was built in a prefabricated building ( Dresden Atrium type ) . The “New School” became a workers' dormitory, after the fall of the Wall it came into the possession of the district. He brought ethnic repatriates into the building. From 1994 to 2010 it was empty, after which it was bought by a private person who renovated the new school in keeping with the monument and furnished apartments.
