Schwalbenberg (Celle)
The Schwalbenberg in Celle is an inland dune between the Aller and the Lachte and an archaeological site in the Obere Allerniederung nature reserve near Celle .
history
The natural elevation served people in prehistoric times as a burial place for their dead. But it was only in the modern era that the population's chance discoveries, including the discovery of so-called “ Harstedter Rauhgefäß ”, brought the traces of early settlement back to the public consciousness after thousands of years. In 1821, an urn chamber with several funeral urns was discovered.
Natural landscapes
In the years from 2010 to 2012, two “nature information boards” were set up on and on the Schwalbenberg to “make the unique natural landscape tangible ” and to “strengthen regional identity ”:
- The board on the dune provides information about the flora and fauna of the elevation, which is characterized by warmth and drought, which thus offers habitats for the silver grass , the sand lizard or the blue-winged wasteland insect .
- The board next to the Lachte flowing past provides information about the biodiversity in the floodplain there , which is characterized by moisture, wetness and regular flooding .
The 8,000 euro project went from the collaboration of the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the city of Celle with volunteer conservationists out and was financially supported by the Lower Saxony Bingo Foundation , the Nature Conservation Foundation Celler country and by Ortsrat Lachtehausen .
