Schwarzbach is a district of Schwallungen in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

location

Schwarzbach is located southwest of Schwallungen and is connected to state road 2523 through the Schwarzbach valley at the end of a Zehnbuchen forest in the direction of Hümpfershausen . The village lies between the Thuringian Forest and the beginning of the Thuringian Rhön .

history

The village was first mentioned on May 10, 1183. It was originally divided into Ober- and Unterschwarzbach by the Counts of Henneberg . From 1350 to 1829 the village was in the office of Sand , which from 1680 belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen .

In the course of the witch hunt , three people were indicted in witch trials in 1633 : Hermann Köhler, his wife Petronella and Wilhelm Walter. Their fate is unknown.

From 1829 to 1869 the place belonged to the administrative office Wasungen, from 1869 to 1872 to the administrative office Meiningen and since then to the district of Meiningen . Schwarzbach was and is characterized by agriculture. On February 25, 1994, Schwarzbach was incorporated into Schwallungen.
