Casei Gerola is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2472 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Pavia in Lombardy .
geography
The municipality is located about 27 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Pavia and about 60 kilometers southwest of the regional capital Milan in the Oltrepò Pavese on the Curone , which flows a few kilometers north into the Po , and borders directly on the province of Alessandria .
The neighboring municipalities are Castelnuovo Scrivia ( AL ), Cornale e Bastida , Isola Sant'Antonio (AL), Mezzana Bigli , Molino dei Torti (AL), Pontecurone (AL), Silvano Pietra and Voghera .
history
The place is probably a Roman foundation. Liutprand donated the place to the Petrus monastery in Ciel d'Oro in Pavia. In 1164 Casei was named as a place that Frederick I gave to the city of Pavia.
