Zeme is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1005 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Pavia in Lombardy .

geography

The municipality is located about 37.5 kilometers west of Pavia in the Lomellina . The Agogna flows in the east.

history

The spellings Cemide and Zemide have been handed down from the Middle Ages . From the 10th century the parish was part of the diocese of Pavia until it finally came to the Count Palatine of Lomello.

traffic

The former state roads SS 494 from Milan to Alessandria and the SS 596 dir from Castello d'Agogna to Casale Monferrato run through the municipality . The former Zeme station is on the Mortara – Asti railway line and was closed in 2003.
