Ottobiano is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1098 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Pavia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 23.5 kilometers west-southwest of Pavia in the Lomellina on the Arbogna .

The name of the village is derived from the Roman Octavianus and seems to be derived from the nickname of the Roman emperor Augustus . Even if the place was mentioned before 1000 AD, it did not appear as a fiefdom to Pavia until around 1250.
