Certosa di Pavia is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5500 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Pavia in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 7 kilometers north-northwest of Pavia and about 24.5 kilometers south-southwest of Milan . The administrative headquarters are in the district of Torre del Mangano

history

The monastery of the same name in the municipality was founded in 1396. The municipality in its current form was created in 1929 through the amalgamation of today's districts and then independent municipalities of Torre del Mangano , Torriano and Borgarello , the latter being eliminated in 1958.

Certosa di Pavia has a train station on the Milan – Genoa railway line . The former Strada Statale 35 dei Giovi (now a regional road) runs through the municipality from Genoa to Ponte Chiasso.
