history

The Mortara – Asti railway was opened on July 6, 1870.

In 2003 the stopping points Casa dei Coppi, Castel d'Agogna, Guazzolo, Ponzano Monferrato, Terranova Monferrato, Terrasa and Zeme were closed.

From the timetable change on June 17, 2012, passenger traffic in the Piedmont region was shut down. The route will formally remain in operation, even if it is no longer passable. Operations are to be resumed between Casale Monferrato and Asti.
