The Alessandria – Novara – Arona railway is a railway line in Italy .

The line was built by the Kingdom of Sardinia to connect the existing Torino – Genova line (and thus the port of Genoa ) with Lake Maggiore (and thus the canton of Ticino ).

The line was opened in three sections, Alessandria - Mortara on June 5, 1854, Mortara - Novara on July 3, 1854 and on June 14, 1855 Novara - Arona .

At the time of construction, the railway line ran along the border with the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto , and connected the two important fortress cities of Alessandria and Novara .
