The Pavia – Torreberetti railway is a railway line in Italy .

history

After the unification of Italy, the new government wanted to connect the city of Milan with the port city of Genoa .

Since the Austrian government had already started work on a railway line from Milan to Pavia in 1858 , the new state built a branch from Torreberetti , on the Alessandria – Novara – Arona railway , to Pavia .

The Torreberetti - Cava - Carbonara part was opened on January 5, 1862, and the Pavia terminus was reached on May 10.

In 1867, with the opening of the Pavia – Voghera line , a significantly shorter rail connection was made between Milan and Genoa. Since then, the Pavia – Torreberetti line has only been used for local traffic.
