The Alessandria – Cavallermaggiore railway is an Italian branch line in the Piedmont region .

The line is operated by RFI , is single-track and not electrified.

history

In 1855 the section from Cavallermaggiore to Bra was opened to traffic, thus connecting the city of Bra to the Piedmontese railway network. 1864–1865 the remnant to Alessandria was completed via Alba and Nizza Monferrato . The route runs through the world-famous wine-growing regions of Langhe and Monferrato and is therefore very attractive.

From the timetable change on June 17, 2012, passenger traffic between Alessandria and Alba was suspended by the Piedmont region . The route will formally remain in operation, even if it is no longer passable. The route is to be reactivated.
