The Moretta – Cavallermaggiore railway was an Italian branch line in the Piedmont region .
history
The construction of a railway line from Airasca via Moretta to Cavallermaggiore was approved in 1879 by Law No. 5002 (so-called Legge Baccarini ).
The section between Moretta and Cavallermaggiore was opened in 1886 and designated as a branch of the Airasca – Saluzzo line.
The route was used by local trains. The Ferrovie dello Stato used the steam locomotives of groups 875 and 880 stationed in Bw Cuneo . Some trains continued on the route to Alessandria , via Bra , Alba and Nizza Monferrato .
Rail operations were discontinued in 1959, and the line was finally closed with a ministerial decree of March 31, 1961 and later dismantled.
