The Asti – Genoa line is an Italian branch line in the Piedmont and Liguria regions .

The line is operated by RFI , is single-track and electrified.

history

The line was opened between 1893 and 1894 and was a second connection between Piedmont and the port city of Genoa after the Giovi Railway .

In 1929 the mountain section between Ovada and Genoa was electrified with three-phase alternating current , and in 1937 the rest of Asti to Ovada followed. The mountain section was converted to 3 kV direct current in 1964 , the rest from 1974 to 1976

As a result of the collapse of the Polcevera Viaduct on August 14, 2018, the railway line between Genoa Borzoli and Genoa Piazza Principe stations also had to be closed.
