Chibla Lewarsowna Gersmawa ( Russian Хибла Леварсовна Герзмава ; born January 6, 1970 in Pizunda , Abkhazian ASSR , Soviet Union ) is an Abkhazian - Russian opera singer ( soprano ). Internationally, her name is also given in the spelling Hibla Gerzmava . Since 1995 she has been a soloist at the Stanislavsky and Nemirowitsch Danchenko Music Theater in Moscow.

Life

Chibla Gersmawa was born in Pizunda , Abkhazia , then part of the Soviet Union. Her musical interest was aroused in early childhood by church music in the cathedral of her hometown. She attended a music school in Sukhumi before going to Moscow in 1989 to study at the local conservatory . In 1994 she completed her studies and in 1995 received a permanent engagement as a soloist at the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich Danchenko Music Theater. In February 2014 she sang the final song "Olympic Roller" at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Sochi , accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater under the direction of Valery Gergiev.

One of Gerzmava's own projects is the crossover concert program “Opera Jazz Blues”, which she realizes together with the trio of Daniel Kramer Trio. In it she combines the classical form of performance with a jazz improvisation, where she sings works by Handel, Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Donizetti and Gershwin, among others.

Festival "Hibla Gerzmava presents ..."

In 2001 Gerzmava founded a music festival that took place in her home in Abkhazia until 2013. In 2014 the festival was held in Moscow for the first time. Participants included Vladimir Spiwakov and the Moscow Virtuoso State Chamber Orchestra, Elena Obraszowa, Denis Matsuev, Ildar Abdrazakov, Deborah Braun and Daniel Kramer.
