Josef Leo Schwarzecker (born July 16, 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian construction, banking and investment manager .

Career

Josef Leo Schwarzecker graduated from HTL Schellinggasse in Vienna and then studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . He received his doctorate in 1981 with a dissertation on the subject of project controlling in the construction industry , then switched to the banking sector and completed a banking apprenticeship in Frankfurt am Main .

From 1990 to 1996 he wrote several books on financial analysis , cash flow calculation and crisis management with key figures . During this time he developed the formula used by listed companies to display and calculate the cash flow of the Austrian Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management (ÖVFA). As an expert in credit risk and restructuring , he was involved in the restructuring of Austrian companies in the 1990s, including the sporting goods manufacturer Atomic .

In 1995, Schwarzecker was appointed to the board of directors of the Bank für Arbeit und Wirtschaft AG (BAWAG) , responsible for the bank's information and communication technology , among other things .

After taking over the Österreichische Postsparkasse in 2001, Schwarzecker was a member of the board of directors of the entire BAWAG PSK group. From 2001 to 2005 he was an Executive Board Member of Eurogiro , the association of European post banks .

Schwarzecker held or holds several positions on the supervisory board, including at Libro Handelsgesellschaft (since 2003) and Management Trust Holding AG (MTH Group).

In 2006, Schwarzecker, the former top manager of BAWAG PSK, was listed as a suspect in the BAWAG affair . The first instance guilty verdict against all defendants, made in 2008, was overturned by the Supreme Court in 2010 in the second instance, the process was repeated and ended in 2012 with an acquittal for Schwarzecker.

Schwarzecker has been Head of Risk Management and Compliance in the Porr Group since 2011 .

Private life

Josef Leo Schwarzecker lives in Vienna and is the father of two sons.

Honors

In 2004 Josef Leo Schwarzecker received the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .
