The Schwarzenöd ruins , also known as Schwarzenegg or Schwarzegg , are the ruins of a Spornburg in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel . It lies on a rock spur to the left of the Kampes at the mouth of the Schmerbach .
history
Nothing is known about the castle in documents. It is believed that the castle was destroyed and left open in the 13th century. Possibly the complex was the seat of a local noble family or an outbuilding of Krumau am Kamp Castle in Krumau am Kamp .
description
The castle, which is very elongated due to the topography, was originally secured by two trenches and several porches. The following curtain wall shows quarry stone masonry made of mostly blocky, unworked stones with material-related indentations and small amounts of Opus spicatum . Of the buildings within the curtain wall, some walls have been preserved, some with arched windows and doors.
