The Schwarzenbach is an approximately 10.4 km long brook in the Allgäu on the Bavarian - Baden-Württemberg state border, which flows into the Obere Argen from the left and northeast at the Schwarzenbach residential area of the Neuravensburg suburb of the city of Wangen im Allgäu .

course

The Schwarzenbach arises in the partly swampy forest area around the Schwarzenberg a little south of the industrial area in the east of Wangen, less than half a kilometer away from the upstream course of the Upper Argen and in the area of the neighboring Bavarian municipality of Hergatz . On its first kilometer it moves west to and through the district of Schwarzenberg , where the B 32 crosses it, and then flows into the Wolfgang pond under the Wolfgang Chapel in Wangen, which it then leaves in a south-south-west direction. Further down, it then flows through the natural Schwarzensee (6.9 ha, 551  m above sea level ). A little north of the Degermoos , it changes between the small Wangen villages of Ober- and Untermooweiler, where it finally crosses over to the Württemberg region, to the west-south-west run and thus reaches their village of Schwarzenbach. There it flows not far from the church from the left and finally west-northwest at an acute angle at a long south arch from it into the Obere Arge.

The brook partially demarcates the border between the Baden-Württemberg district of Ravensburg and the Bavarian district of Lindau (Lake Constance) .

Stream nature and catchment area

Due to the straightening of the stream, which begins shortly after the source, the Schwarzenbach can hardly shape its river bed. Only after the Untermoobeiler more numerous woods accompany its previously rather bare, ditch-like course and then the stream also has the opportunity to unfold on a short forest passage.

The 14.7 km² catchment area is a south-westerly strip of about eight and a quarter kilometers long and a maximum of two and a half kilometers wide between the mostly parallel courses of the receiving Upper Argen in the north-west and the Leiblach in the south-east.
