The Black Bay rail trestle ( Stenocorus quercus , syn. Anisorus quercus ) is a beetle from the family of the longhorn beetle and the subfamily Lepturinae .

features

The beetles have a body length of 12–21 mm. The species is variable in color. The head, antennae, and legs are usually black. The third antenna segment is shorter than the fifth. The male has a red abdomen . The front corners of the black wing-covers of the males are colored red. The females, on the other hand, have a black abdomen. Their elytra are usually brownish yellow, only in rare cases black.

distribution

The longhorn beetle is widespread in Europe. It is only missing in Northern Europe, the British Isles , Denmark, the Baltic States and Scandinavia . In the east, the occurrence extends across Asia Minor and the Caucasus to the Middle East (Iran). It also extends further north via Siberia to Mongolia .

Way of life

The longhorn beetles can be seen from April to June. In Germany the species is on the red list in category 2 (endangered). A life cycle lasts 2 to 3 years. The species is polyphagous . The larvae develop in various deciduous trees, especially oak and field maple .

Taxonomy

The species was first described by Goeze as Cerambyx quercus . It is a type species of the genus Anisorus Mulsant , 1862. Today, following a revision by Eduard Vives, this is mostly understood as a subgenus of the genus Stenocorus .

The following synonyms can be found in the literature :

  • Cerambyx quercus Goeze , 1783
  • Toxotus quercus ( Goeze , 1783)
  • Anisorus quercus ( Goeze , 1783)
  • Leptura baja cabinet , 1798
  • Stenocorus dispar tank , 1797
  • Toxotus dispar ( tank , 1797)
  • Leptura humeralis Fabricius , 1787
  • Toxotus humeralis ( Fabricius , 1787)

There are at least two subspecies:

  • Stenocorus quercus aureopubens ( Pic , 1908). Widespread in the Caucasus and northeastern Turkey.
  • Stenocorus quercus quercus

The subspecies Stenochorus quercus punctipennis Reitter , 1914 suggested for finds from the Peloponnese (Greece) is mostly no longer recognized today.
