history
Human use of the moor was also inevitable. Around 1860 peat was cut for heating purposes, the water was directed to the pastures of the Lawerz and the Norbertshöhe . While tourism in the village grew, attempts were made in 1960 to convert the lake into a tourist-friendly bathing lake. However, the bog consistency became a problem, so it was abandoned again. In the meantime, nature has completely reclaimed the lake.
