The Swiss Tourism Federation ( STV ), Fédération suisse du tourisme , Federazione svizzera del turismo , Federaziun svizra dal turissem , English Swiss Tourism Federation (all FST) is the umbrella organization of the Swiss tourism industry and the tourism policy authorities . This makes the association the central platform for tourism policy in Switzerland.

History and organization

The association was founded in 1932 to offer tourism in Switzerland a common platform and representation of interests.

Today the association has around 600 members

  • Confederation (Marketing Organization Switzerland Tourism ), cantons and municipalities, tourist resorts and tourist destinations, regional and local tourist associations
  • Industry associations from the hotel industry, gastronomy and mobility (such as the employers 'association Hotelleriesuisse , the employees' association GastroSuisse , professional associations, ACS and VCS , the Association of Public Transport , SAC and many others)
  • national and regional service companies from the tourism industry, traffic and transport (such as SBB , SWISS, etc.) and the financial sector (banks and insurance companies)
  • Education providers in the sector (universities, tourism school providers, professional associations)

It is organized as an association under private law (according to Art. 60–79 ZGB), the three central organs are the general assembly , the board of directors and the management (office) . The seat is in Bern . In addition, there are the advisory board (for the exchange of information) and the commission (staff unit) as extended bodies . National Councilor Dominique de Buman  (CVP) has been President since 2009 , and Barbara Gisi is the managing director .

Agendas

The main task is to maintain contacts and to regularly exchange information with federal offices and members of parliament , and to lobby other sectors in the interests of the tourism industry. The Parliamentary Group for Tourism  (PGT) with over 60 members is one of the largest interest groups in the Federal Assembly.

Fundamental industry-internal conflicts of interest (such as the expansion of the tourism infrastructure versus the preservation of natural landscape resources as the "capital" of the tourism and leisure industry) are dealt with within the platform.

Further tasks are quality promotion and the development of coordinated educational standards. The association also offers advanced training courses itself.

public relation

The main focus of public relations is the publication of the brochure Swiss Tourism in Figures and the publication of a bulletin on the status of STV activities, and the company's own website with a sector-specific news portal (newsletter, statements, statistical data, publication reports).

The STV - as one of 12 supporting organizations - is also entrusted with the management of the quality seal of approval for Swiss tourism .
