Scomberomorus lineolatus is a marine fish from the mackerel and tuna families. It is fished commercially and is alsoimportantas a sport fish .

description

The first dorsal fin consists of 15 to 18 hard rays , the second dorsal fin of 15 to 19 soft rays . Behind it are seven to ten rafts. The anal fin consists of 17 to 22 soft rays, followed by seven to ten flosses. The caudal fin is large and deeply split. The pelvic fins are very small and consist of 20 to 24 soft rays. The attachment of the pectoral fins is slightly below the center of the body.

The spindle-shaped body reaches a maximum length of 80 centimeters. The flanks are shiny silver. There are many horizontally arranged, irregular, dark stripes along the sidelines .

Distribution, habitat and biology

Scomberomorus lineolatus inhabits the continental shelf on the coast of India , Sri Lanka , Southeast Asia and the northern Malay Archipelago . Little is known about the way of life of this fish. It is a predatory fish that feeds mainly on small fish.
