The Scope Group is a provider of independent ratings , research and risk analyzes for all asset classes , headquartered in Berlin .

The company was founded as a European alternative to the US agencies Moody’s , Standard & Poor’s and Fitch .

Companies

Scope was founded in 2002 by Florian Schoeller in Berlin and is now held by around 70 shareholders, including the founder himself and others. a. Stefan Quandt , Manfred Gentz , Hermann Simon and institutional investors such as the German insurers HDI , Signal Iduna , SV SparkassenVersicherung , the Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company, the Austrian B&C Industrieholding and the Luxembourgish Foyer Assurances Insurance.

With the gas manufacturer Linde , Scope won a Dax customer for the first time in 2016 . Scope also reviews the development bank KfW and the major Swiss bank UBS .

In addition to its headquarters in Berlin, Scope has branches in Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, Oslo and Paris. The company employs around 200 people in total.

In cooperation with Handelsblatt, the company awards the "Scope Awards" once a year, which the company considers to be the best fund providers and the best fund products in German-speaking countries.

With effect from August 1, 2016, Scope took over the rating division of the FERI Group .

Business areas

The Scope Group's business is divided into four areas.

  • Scope Ratings offers services in the area of ​​credit risk analysis and would like to contribute to a greater diversity of opinion for institutional investors. Scope Ratings is a rating agency registered according to the EU Rating Regulation with the status of an External Credit Assessment Institution (ECAI). Ratings are usually carried out by the US agencies Moody’s , Standard & Poor’s and Fitch , which dominate the global rating business with a market share of more than 90 percent. Scope would like to establish itself in the market as a European alternative to the US top dogs.
  • Scope Risk Solutions is a provider of credit risk solutions and supports investors in managing credit risks and in implementing complex regulatory requirements such as: B. Solvency II . The analytical and methodical approach of Scope Risk Solutions corresponds to that of Scope Ratings.
  • Scope Analysis specializes in the analysis, evaluation and ratings of mutual funds and alternative investment funds as well as asset management companies and certificate issuers. Scope Analysis offers services in the area of ​​risk-return analyzes and continuous risk monitoring.
  • Scope Investor Services supports investors in the selection of asset managers and funds and designs portfolio strategies for indirect investments. The selection based on quantitative and qualitative criteria includes all asset classes and therefore all funds that invest in securities and real assets.
