Scott Beach

Scott Beach (born January 13, 1931 in Portland , Oregon, † February 13, 1996 in San Francisco , California) was an American film actor , writer and DJ .

life and career

Scott Beach has appeared in numerous films, and his deep voice was particularly noticeable. Beach once said that director George Lucas liked his voice and used it a lot in his films. For example, the American appeared in American graffiti as the shopkeeper Mr. Gordon, from whom money was stolen from his slot machines . For Star Wars he contributed the voice of a stormtrooper. His acting work includes around two dozen productions, including small roles in other classics such as Bullitt and Stand by Me - The Secret of a Summer (here as the self-indulgent mayor in the dream sequence). One of his last roles was as he judges in the comedy Mrs. Doubtfire alongside Robin Williams , Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan .

In a radio broadcast on January 28, 1973, he reported that the agreement to end the war and restore peace in Vietnam had been signed the day before in Paris . Beach concluded his report on the peace deal by saying that the last soldier to die in Vietnam was still alive. He was right about that. Scott Beach acted as narrator in performances twice and also provided the voice of the cartoon cat Garfield in the character's first television appearance. He was later replaced in this role.

Scott Beach died on February 13, 1996 in San Francisco at the age of 65. He was married to Neva Beach and had two children.
