Kneller learned to ski at the age of three. As is usual with ski crossers, he was initially an alpine ski racer. He was Australia's representative at the Trofeo Topolino and took part in FIS races from December 2004 , mainly in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines. Apart from national junior championship titles, there were no notable successes in this division, which is why he switched to ski cross in 2008.
Kneller made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on January 5th, 2009 in St. Johann in Tirol , where he finished 53rd. He won his first World Cup points a month later with 15th place in Cypress Mountain . He qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics ; On this occasion, he achieved seventh place, the best result of his career to date. His breakthrough to the top of the world came on December 19, 2010 with his first World Cup victory in San Candido .
Kneller ended his active career after the 2013/14 season .
