Scott Matthew (* in Queensland , Australia ) is an Australian singer , guitarist and lyricist . He currently lives and works as an independent artist in New York .

Career

Matthew was a member of the alternative pop band Elva Snow , which he formed with ex-Morrissey member Spencer Cobrin.

Matthew became known for his vocal contributions to the soundtrack of the anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Cowboy Bebop : Knockin 'on Heaven's Door , both of which were produced by the composer Yoko Kanno . He is also represented with six songs on the soundtrack of the erotic comedy Shortbus by John Cameron Mitchell.

In 2011 he sang some text passages in the song Beautiful on the Rosenstolz comeback album We are alive .

In autumn 2011 he sang the piece Terrible Dawn for the Portuguese composer and keyboardist Rodrigo Leão on his album A Montanha Mágica . The album was released in 2011 and entered the Portuguese charts at number one. On the compilation Songs (2004-2012) , ten of Leão's few vocal pieces appeared in 2012 , always sung by guest singers. Scott Matthew was there with two pieces, Terrible Dawn and Incomplete . This was followed in 2014 by the joint album Life Is Long , which reached number two in the Portuguese charts, and a large number of joint appearances.

His voice is said to be warm, sensual and a little androgynous . He is a skilled guitarist and ukulele player.
