Scouting for Girls is a British pop / rock band of three . It was founded in 2005 in the London suburb of Ruislip by longtime friends Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard. The name of the band is a play on words with the title of the manual Scouting for Boys , with which Robert Baden-Powell laid the cornerstone of the worldwide scouting movement in 1908 .
Band history
The band was signed on February 14, 2007 by the British record label Epic . In June 2007, the band's first EP was released under the title It's Not About You . It shows clear influences from bands like Electric Furs . The release hit number 31 on the UK singles chart, making it the highest entry for a limited edition EP in the country's pop history. The first single She's So Lovely reached the top ten of the British charts in early September and stayed there for six weeks. The follow-up single Elvis Ain't Dead also made it into the top ten.
On September 17, 2007, the debut album named after the band was released in Great Britain. It was awarded triple platinum for a total of more than 900,000 copies sold . At the end of January 2008 it reached number 1 on the British album charts for the first time .
