Screen Test No. 1 (also: Screen Test , Screen Test 1 , Screen Test # 1 or Philip's Screen Test ) is a Underground - experimental film of Warhol . It was filmed on January 23, 1965 in Warhol's studio The Factory in 16mm format.

action

The black and white - sound film shows a length of 70 minutes Philip Fagan , the embarrassing questions of Ronald Tavel from the off must answer. Tavel persistently asks him about his family circumstances and about a theft in which he was caught. Again and again he is asked to admit his homosexuality , which he refuses.

background

Initially, a film was planned under the title Aging ( aging ). Warhol wanted to film the actor for three minutes every day for six years. At that time (winter 1964/1965) Fagan was Andy Warhol's lover, with whom he lived in his house on Lexington Avenue. The project stalled when Fagan left the factory because he was jealous of Gerard Malanga . A total of 103 rolls of film with his portraits have come down to us. Fagan had starred in Warhol's film Harlot (1965) in December 1964 .
