sculpture network eV is a European non-profit organization founded in 2004 to promote contemporary three-dimensional art in Europe, based in Berlin .

History and purpose

The aim of the organization is to increase the perception, understanding and appreciation of sculpture among the general public, to promote the exchange of thoughts and works between artists, art educators and art lovers, and to improve the working and general conditions for the professional environment .

With around 1,000 members in 43 countries, sculpture network is the largest European network on the subject of three-dimensional art. The sculptor Hartmut Stielow brought the idea of ​​the network with him from the USA, where he was on the board of the International Sculpture Center (ISC). In 2003 he found a colleague in the entrepreneur Ralf Kirberg - who is today chairman (as of 2013). In 2004 sculpture network was founded as the European counterpart of the ISC. The association is recognized as a non-profit organization and draws its financial resources from membership fees and donations. Its members do volunteer work.

These goals are mainly implemented through an online platform that enables dialogue and the exchange of ideas between artists, art educators and friends of contemporary sculpture and supports the idea of ​​networking. The online platform also offers members access to selected information in a password-protected area. The website provides information on all aspects of sculpture for the general public.

Board and coordinator network

The board consists of five people: Ralf Kirberg (chairman of the board), Hartmut Stielow (deputy chairman), Beatriz Blanch, Judith Collins, Helmut Pütz and Isabelle Henn. Volunteer coordinators network the members of sculpture network across Europe, initiate and oversee sculpture network events, such as the Dialogues.

Since 2010 people who are interested in contemporary three-dimensional art have met every year at the end of January on the occasion of the “new year's brunch”. Whether studios, museums, galleries, sculptors' workshops or foundries, sculpture sites open their doors. It is celebrated across Europe on the same day, at the same time.

With the "Dialogues" series of events, sculpture network offers a platform for professional and social exchange around three-dimensional art. The "Dialogues" take place across Europe. sculpture network organizes the "Dialogues" together with members, experts and institutions. They take place at art-relevant venues such as studios, museums, sculpture parks, private collections, production facilities. The dialogues are open to members of sculpture network, their friends and anyone interested.

Every year sculpture network organizes an "International Forum" in cooperation with one or more art institutions. Here, over two and a half days of the event, renowned experts and artists deal with a selected topic relating to contemporary sculpture. In addition, the participants have the opportunity to visit interesting places that are shaped by three-dimensional art.
