Sean James Kweku Clare (born September 18, 1996 in London ) is an English football player who is under contract with Oxford United .

Career

Sean Clare was born in London in 1996 . The 19-year-old joined Sheffield Wednesday from the Nike Academy in February 2016 . There he was first used in the U-23 team. From March to August 2016, Clare was loaned out to English third division club FC Bury . For the club, he completed four league games as a substitute. He made his professional debut in the game against Bradford City on March 5, 2016. After that, the midfielder was loaned from January to March 2017 to Accrington Stanley from the fourth division. He scored his first goal as a professional against the Wycombe Wanderers . For the following season, Clare was loaned out to Gillingham FC until January 2018 . In the same 2017/18 season, he played five games for Sheffield under Jos Luhukay in the second division. He met once against Aston Villa in a 2-4 defeat at Hillsborough Stadium . In September 2018, Clare signed a three-year contract with the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian . After Hearts were relegated from the Scottish Premiership in 2020, he moved to the English third division club Oxford United .
