Seasyde House

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seasyde House , also Seaside House , is a villa near the Scottish town of Errol in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

The villa dates back to a building from the mid 17th century on the site. This belonged to the father of the British Admiral Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan . It was somewhat larger than today's Seasyde House and resembled the Villa Seggieden House , which had since been demolished . The Hunter family bought the property around the middle of the 18th century . Today's Seasyde House was probably built around 1800, possibly based on a design by John Paterson . Fragments of the older villa may have been integrated into the new structure along its western flank.

description

It is accessible via a front staircase and closes with a stone balustrade . A triplet window is let in above it . The portal closes with a fighter window . A rounded recess protrudes from the rear facade . 9 and 12-part lattice windows are embedded along the facade . The final roof is covered with gray slate.
