Driving school cars may be marked for road traffic in Germany in order to e.g. B. to draw the attention of other road users to the level of training and to give them the opportunity to adjust to it. This is done by a sign on the car roof, the front or back with the red lettering FAHRSCHULE on a white background. It must be at least 350 millimeters long and 80 millimeters wide and a maximum of 520 millimeters long and 110 millimeters wide. Signs with additional inscription as well as other devices which could cause confusion with the sign or which could impair its effectiveness may not be used in road traffic. The sign may only be used for training purposes ( Section 5, Paragraph 4 of the Implementing Ordinance for the Driving Instructor Act ). Sometimes the car is also labeled as a driving school car and advertises the driving school.

39.1% of the driving school cars came from Volkswagen , 10.1% from Audi , 9.7% from Mercedes , 7% from BMW , 6% from Opel , 4.9% from Ford , 2.6% from Škoda Auto , 2.2% from Renault , 2.1% from Seat and 1.9% from Peugeot .
