Sebastian Bacmeister

Sebastian Bacmeister (born August 9, 1646 in Otterndorf ; † May 14, 1704 in Travemünde ) was a German Lutheran clergyman.

Life

Sebastian Bacmeister was the son of the pastor and superintendent in Ratzeburg Lucas Bacmeister (1617–1662), who had previously been a preacher in the country of Hadeln . Bacmeister was enrolled at the University of Rostock as a child in 1654 to protect him from the consequences of the student rite of deposition . In the mid-1660s he studied Protestant theology at the University of Rostock and the University of Wittenberg , where he disputed in 1670 under the chairmanship of August Pfeiffer . In 1676 he became a preacher at St. Lorenz in Travemünde. Here he worked until his death.

He was married to Elsabe von Reyter (1657-1740). The marriage resulted in their son Johannes Bacmeister , who became a physician at the University of Tübingen , personal physician and Baden-Durlach councilor.
