Sebastian Gaigl (on the grave monument Sebastian Gaigel ) (* 1797 , † 1876 ) was a patron in Munich .

Live and act

As the owner of a pawn shop in the town of Au on the other side of the Isar , Gaigl had made a considerable fortune. He donated 328,000 gold marks for the construction of the municipal orphanage.

Honors

In memory of his services to the city, a street in the Maxvorstadt district was named after Gaigl in 1890 . In addition, a magnificent honorary grave of the city of Munich reminds of him.

The tomb of Sebastian Gaigl is on the old southern cemetery in Munich (New Arkadenplatz 137 at cemetery 34) location . The inscription reads: "To the benefactor of the orphans, Mr. Sebastian Gaigel died June 27th, 1876 the thankful municipality of Munich". The tomb was created by Theodor Haf.
