Sebastian Rick

Sebastian Rick (born September 30, 1983 in Großenhain ) is a German historian and local politician.

Life

Sebastian Rick grew up in Val Gardena ( Elbe-Elster district ). After attending the Gröden elementary school and the Elsterschloss-Gymnasium Elsterwerda, he passed his Abitur in 2003. He then completed a degree in Modern History, Economic and Social History and Sociology at the Technical University of Dresden between 2003 and 2009 , which he completed with the academic degree of a Magister Artium . From 2010 to 2013 Rick was a graduate fellow of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . He did his doctorate with Klaus-Dietmar Henke on the subject of "The districts of Liebenwerda and Schweinitz in the Soviet occupation zone 1945-1949". Since 2013 Rick has been working in the consistory of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia in the cemeteries department.

Rick is involved in local politics in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg . In 2003 he was elected community representative in Val Gardena and in 2008 a district councilor. He joined the CDU in 2003 and was elected the youngest local CDU chairman in the state of Brandenburg a year later. Rick was chairman of the Elbe-Elster youth sports club from 2007 to 2015. Since 2013 he has been chairing the parish council in Val Gardena. In this capacity he found the first traces of the stolen late Gothic Val Gardena holy figures, which were stolen from the Val Gardena St. Martin's Church in 1960 .

On May 26th, 2019 Rick was elected honorary mayor of the municipality of Val Gardena .
