Sebastian Straubel

Sebastian Straubel (born July 14, 1983 in Coburg ) is a German politician ( CSU ). He has been the district administrator in the Upper Franconian district of Coburg since February 2019 . From 2014 until his election as district administrator, he was the 1st mayor of the Lautertal community .

Life

Sebastian Straubel first attended the Albertinum grammar school , then the Ernestinum grammar school in Coburg, which he graduated with a secondary school leaving certificate. He then completed an internship at the Coburg regional broadcaster Radio Eins from 2004 to 2007. There he worked as a radio editor and head of the newsroom until his election as mayor of Lautertal.

Straubel lives in his home town of Lautertal.

Sebastian Straubel has been a member of the Junge Union since 2000 and of the CSU since 2001.

Straubel has been deputy district chairman of the CSU Coburg-Land since 2015, of which he was already a member of the board as an assessor and secretary.

Since 2017 he has been a member of the district executive committee of the CSU Upper Franconia and since 2019 deputy district chairman.

Public offices

In the local elections on March 16, 2014 , Straubel was elected 1st Mayor of Lautertal, replacing Hermann Bühling. He took up this position on May 1, 2014.

Straubel won the direct mandate in the Coburg district on October 14, 2018 and moved into the Upper Franconian District Assembly. There he is u. a. deputy group leader.

In the runoff election for the office of Coburg District Administrator on February 10, 2019, Sebastian Straubel prevailed with 62.45% against his competitor Martin Stingl from the SPD. For this reason, he resigned from the office of 1st mayor on February 11, 2019.

Straubel's tenure as district administrator began on February 12, 2019.

Volunteering

Sebastian Straubel has been an active member of the district traffic watch Coburg eV since 1998 and was there a. a. active as youth leader.

At the federal level he is involved as a member of the working group for the promotion of youth work in the Deutsche Verkehrswacht eV

Straubel is also a board member of the second division handball team HSC 2000 Coburg , where he is the hall speaker.

Others

Straubel is the first district administrator in the Coburg district after World War II who is not a member of the SPD .
