Sebastian Thul (born April 18, 1980 in Neunkirchen (Saar) ) is a German social worker and politician ( SPD ). Since 2019 he has been State Secretary in the Saarland Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection .

education and profession

After completing his technical college degree, Sebastian Thul obtained a diploma as a social worker at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences in 2003. From 2008 to 2010 he was managing director of the Network for Democracy and Courage in Saarland.

politics

Sebastian Thul joined the SPD in 1997. From 2000 to 2006 he was chairman of the Neunkirchen (Saar) district association of the Jusos, and from 2007 to 2012 he was the Saarland regional chairman of the Jusos. He has been a member of the state executive committee of the SPD since 2011.

Thul has been a member of the city council in Neunkirchen since 2010 and was elected to the state parliament in the Saarland state elections in 2012 .

Since September 18, 2019, Thul has been State Secretary in the Saarland Ministry of the Environment, where he replaced Roland Krämer . In the course of this, he resigned from his state parliament mandate. Heike Becker moved up for him .
