Sebastian Ullrich (historian)

Sebastian Ullrich (* 1975 ) is a German historian .

Career

Ullrich studied history , philosophy and political science in Berlin and Cambridge. In 2008 he received his doctorate at the Humboldt University in Berlin with the dissertation The Weimar Complex: The Failure of the First German Democracy and the Political Culture of the Early Federal Republic 1945–1959 , for which he was awarded the Hans Rosenberg Memorial Prize in 2010 . The political scientist Wilhelm Bleek certifies Ullrich's “astonishing historical research achievement”, Edgar Wolfrum describes the work as a “brilliant and source-saturated study [...] which can justifiably be described as a model example of a modern, cultural-scientifically expanded political history”, and Hans Mommsen she calls "an impressive analysis of early historical Weimar research, which was long shaped by the endeavor to keep Weimar free from the verdict that it made the rise of National Socialism possible".

Ullrich works as a lecturer for modern history , contemporary history and politics at the CH Beck publishing house .
