60 as the basis of payment systems:
- The Babylonian number system was based on sixty and thus formed a so-called sexagesimal system .

- The age of 60 is relevant for a number of regulations. In the GDR it was the normal retirement age for women. In the Federal Republic of Germany this rule was valid until 1999.
