Secrets of the Mountain is an American television - adventure film , which on 16 May 2010 at the transmitter NBC has been sent. The story of the film revolves around a lawyer who, together with her three children, is researching the secret of a mountain.

action

Dana James is a divorced attorney who is raising three children (Jade, Jake, and Maddie). As a little girl, she lived with her uncle, the archaeologist and adventurer Henry Beecham. However, while in college, Henry was killed when his former assistant, Nigel Fowler, drove him over a cliff in his car.

After their divorce, Dana threw herself into work, leaving her with little time for her children. When she receives an offer to buy a mountain that Uncle Henry owned, she decides to accept the offer and take the children on a family trip to her uncle's old house in Tesla Falls. In Tesla Falls she meets the lawyer Tom Kent and the two hit it off right away.

A surprise awaits her at her uncle's house: Uncle Henry. It turns out that he did not die then and has since traveled the world under an assumed name. He explains to them and the children about Fowler and the mountain: According to his theory, the mountain should have been the place of origin of the Aztecs . The Aztec ruler Montezuma once sent a thousand warriors and a gold mask on a journey to this place of origin, where they built a temple in the mountain with its caves and tunnels. Henry had already suspected this at the time, but when he got a hint of old records that might help solve the mystery of the mountain, Fowler tried to get Henry out of the way and forestall him. However, he did not succeed at the time. Now Fowler is trying again to get the treasures of the mountain, because the offer to buy comes from Fowler himself.

But there are still five days until the sale is finally closed, and they decide to use this time to find out the secret of the mountain. On an initial exploration, they find Aztec symbols that are clues to the entrance and decide to continue the search the next day. Then, however, surprisingly Fowler shows up and threatens Dana and her children. Fearing for the children's safety, Dana decides to go home in the morning. When Jake and Jade damage one of Henry's books during an argument that night, they find a map of the interior of the mountain hidden in the cover. But since, according to the map, the first rays of light of the day reveal the location of the entrance, they set off for the mountain on their own at night. Once there, they actually manage to find the entrance. When Dana and Maddie notice their disappearance early in the morning, they follow them to the mountain.

Together they enter the mountain and find themselves after falling into a pitfall and sliding deep inside the mountain. In the meantime, Henry wakes up and makes his way to the mountain with Tom. Fowler has now also discovered the entrance there and is covering up the traces the children have left so that Henry and Tom cannot find the entrance. Since they don't want to wait for the light of the next daybreak, the two start looking for a second air shaft inside.

Inside the mountain, Dana and the children discover a crypt with the remains of the Aztec warriors and soon find themselves at a deep abyss with an ancient, wobbly wooden walkway. Before they dare to cross, Fowler surprises them and steals the card. Dana and the children follow him over the collapsing bridge to get the card back. Shortly after him, they reach a huge cave in which there is a real underground Aztec pyramid . In it, Fowler finds the valuable gold mask of the Aztecs, but before he can escape with it, Dana and the children put it. Removing a mask triggers a trap and a stone trap door threatens to close the room. The children flee, but Fowler forcibly pushes Dana aside, causing her to lie dazed. The children manage to open the trap door at the last second. Now Tom joins them, who has found the second air shaft with Uncle Henry. While Tom frees Dana, Fowler flees through the air shaft and brings him to collapse behind him before being knocked out by Henry outside. Together, Henry, Tom, Dana and the children manage to uncover an opening in the buried shaft so that everyone can escape from the mountain before the shaft is finally filled in. However, when they reach the open air, Fowler is gone.

After her adventure, Dana decides to move with her children to live with Uncle Henry in Tesla Falls. Not only the children and Henry are enthusiastic about it, Tom is also happy because it sparked between him and Dana. On top of that, Tom brings the good news that the contract could be canceled so that Dana still owns the mountain. And Dana, who hasn't been satisfied with her stressful job for a long time, wonders if it's not too late to pursue her childhood dreams of adventure and archeology (which she buried after Henry's alleged death).
