Phedimus stoloniferus is a species of the genus Phedimus in the family of thick-leaf plants (Crassulaceae).

description

Phedimus stoloniferus is a perennial herbaceous plant . It grows with creeping, branched shoots that are up to 12 centimeters long and form roots at the nodes . The obovate to circular or elliptical leaves are arranged opposite one another and are densely packed towards the shoot tips. At the edges they are indistinctly notched or toothed. The fleshy leaf blade is 10 to 25 millimeters long and 6 to 10 millimeters wide.

The flower stems are erect or ascending and 10 to 45 centimeters long. Their inflorescence forms (10 to) 20 to 30 flowered ebruises . The broad, lanceolate, finely warty bracts are 4 to 8 millimeters long. The five-fold flowers are sessile. Their wrongly lanceolate, bald, 2.5 to 4.5 millimeter long sepals are fused together up to 1 millimeter. The light pink, broadly spreading petals are lanceolate, have a short pointed tip and are 6 to 8 millimeters long. Stamens are 3.5 to 8 millimeters long, the anthers are red. The 5 to 6 millimeter long ovary is fused at the base, spread out in a star shape and bare.

The seeds are 1 millimeter long and 0.5 millimeters wide.

The chromosome number is .

Systematics and distribution

Phedimus stoloniferus is widespread in the Caucasus , in northern Iran in the Talish mountains and in eastern Turkey in northern Asia Minor and in the province of Hatay in forests and humid fields at altitudes of up to 2150 meters. Phedimus stoloniferus is often cultivated in Europe and North America, where it is often found wild. In Switzerland it is considered a difficult to control weed .

It was first described as Sedum stoloniferum in 1774 by Samuel Gottlieb Gmelin . Henk 't Hart placed them in the genus Phedimus in 1995 . Asterosedum stoloniferum (SGGmel.) Grulich is a synonym .
