The Bad Wörishofen glider airfield is an airfield in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria .
location
The glider airfield is located about two kilometers north of the city of Bad Wörishofen and about two kilometers south of the Bundesautobahn 96 Munich-Lindau . State road 2513 borders directly on the airfield to the west. Situated to the east is within half a kilometer away, the state road 2015. The good starting position near Bad Woerishofen use haul travelers, often for entry into the Swabian Alb or as a springboard for the Alps .
Airfield
The Bad Wörishofen glider airfield has a 1000 m long and 30 m wide runway made of grass with orientation 08/26. The height of the site is 613 m above sea level (corresponds to 2011 ft MSL). Gliders and motor gliders are allowed to take off and land on the Bad Wörishofen glider airfield. Permitted take-off types are winch launch , aircraft tow and self launch .
Flight operations
The glider flying site is used by the Bad Wörishofen eV glider club on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and on public holidays between April and November. Depending on the flight weather conditions , flight operations usually take place between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Passage through barriers and traffic signs is prohibited during flight operations .
The towing heights at winch take off are usually between 350 and 450 meters, depending on the take-off mass of the glider.
history
The original glider airfield was about two kilometers to the southeast and has been in use since 1952. In 1990 flight operations ceased with the construction of the eastern bypass road from Bad Wörishofen . The new construction of the airfield was approved in 1994 by the government of Upper Bavaria - Aviation Office South Bavaria and completed in late summer 1997. The first take-offs on the site were carried out on July 27, 1997 (gliding) and August 10, 1997 (motor gliding).

The Bad Wörishofen-Nord airfield is located about one kilometer to the southeast, within the traffic area .
